WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?

Dick Cheney Needs to Take a Page From Emil Brown

By Mitch Blatt

Apparently not all Major League clubs have policies against guns in the locker room. Royals outfielder Emil Brown shot reporter Karen Kornacki in the face when she was interviewing Tony Pena. (Edit, ALL Major League clubs have policies against guns in the locker room; Kansas City just isn’t a Major League club.) This is sure to have widespread impact outside of baseball, as Dick Cheney will adopt it as the new White House media policy. (Video in full view.)

Cheney found the video on YouTube and decided it was the perfect way to raise the administration’s approval ratings. Reporters won’t want to be critical if they know a shot in the face is coming.

White House media corpse opinions differ. Steve Scully, president of the White House Correspondent’s Association, said, “This is a move calculated to erode freedom of speech and stiffle disent.” Famed Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward had a different take: “Who the hell cares? I’m already rich! I didn’t get good access to the administration by bashing them in my books. I mean, he’s obviously the best president ever, because I said so in my book, so why would he be doing anything wrong?”

On a more serious note, what the hell would anyone be doing shooting a pellet gun in a locker room?
