Ben Wallace Speaks at Homecoming Pep Rally
Have you heard of Orange High School? No? Maybe because they haven’t won their football conference’s title in 30 years? Well, apparently they are well-regarded enough for Ben Wallace to speak at their pep rally. I got this story yesterday. Wallace happened to be in Cleveland promoting his new $15 shoe, and he stopped by Orange High School last Friday.
Why was he there? Of course, he needed a place to workout while he was on the road, so he took advantage of their gym and weight room, but still, he could have gone anywhere. Speculation is that the Caviliers Donyell Marshall, whose children attend OHS, had something to do with it. Wallace gave a few words at the rally. (Really only a few.) Something to the extent of: “Support your team, support your peers. Your football team is 3-0, so go Lions!” (The Lions won thegame, but their success has more to do with good scheduling than talent.)
One of my readers (the one who gave me the tip) had a chance to speak with Wallace. They didn’t talk for long, but the one interesting thing he recalled was Wallace talking about how to stop Shaq. “You have to play him man on,” was the advice. I’m sure being Ben Wallace helps when it comes to playing him man on.
