BLACK QBS CRITICIZED MORE, MCNABB SAYS

Why? Because They Go on the Air and Say Stuff Like That.

I am about to criticize a black quarterback. I assure you that I am not racist; Donovan McNabb just happens to be black.

McNabb said on HBO’s “Real Sports With Bryant Gumbel” that black quarterbacks are criticized more often than their white counterparts. According to him, many people still don’t want blacks playing quarterback. Furthermore, the small number of them adds pressure.

“There’s not that many African-American quarterbacks, so we have to do a little bit extra,” McNabb tells HBO. “Because the percentage of us playing this position, which people didn’t want us to play … is low, so we do a little extra.”

And then you look at whites in the NBA or white receivers. Look at the percentage of them. The percentage of black QBs actually mirors the percentage of blacks in America somewhat closely. That’s the only position besides kicker that it does.

Black quarterbacks may be criticized more often, because of one reason: they go on the air and complain about being criticized more often. McNabb was crying a few years ago about how Terrell Owens’ feud with him was an example of “black on black crime.” What was the racist comment TO made? He said that he would rather have Brett Favre at QB than D-Mac.

Donovan went on:
“Every year I’m part of some criticism. But every day that we go through life, you’re faced with a lot of adversity. Now the answer is how do you handle the adversity. How do you respond?

“I try to handle myself with class. I try to handle myself with dignity. I think sometimes people look to players to act out, speak loudly, pretty much be an idiot. But that’s not me.”

I applaude you for not getting overly aggressive and bashing teammates like TO, but you are raising an idiotic point here. Football fans want to win and almost no one cares about the color of your skin. We just get a little riled when we hear nonsense like this.

What do you think? Post your opinion in the comment section.
