Whoa, The Cavs Really Stink

The Cavs Without LeBron… Brought to You by Safe Auto

Looking at the Cleveland Cavaliers schedule, it’s easy to see when LeBron James sprained his finger. Look down the list of team assist leaders for the game, and it’s the first one where LeBron isn’t listed. Look at scoring leaders. He compiled the team high in all but two of his games. An even easier way to see it is just to look at when the six game losing streak started. Look at November 27. The Cavs beat the Celtics. November 28, the Cavs lost to the Pistons–by 35. LeBron still lead the team in scoring that game, with 15, even though he missed the second half of the game with a sprained finger. After missing 10 days and 5 more games, some are questioning whether his injury isn’t more severe, but regardless of his health problem, the Cavs have much bigger problems.

LeBron will be back soon enough, and the Cavs will be playoff contenders, win a round or too because of LeBron, but if anyone can articulate best what is wrong with the Cavs, he ain’t saying anything. Jason Kidd wants to get traded to Cleveland and has made it known to his team, but hasn’t said anything publicly. If he does get to Cleveland, I think he’ll make most of his points on the court.

The Cavs had topped 100 in ten of the first fifteen games, then when LeBron got hurt, they couldn’t break 100 once. Heck, they couldn’t even break 80 in three of the past six.

They’ve went from averaging 102 point a game to 80.7. They had won 4 straight, had a 9-6 record overall, and now have a 9-12 record. They took out the engine of a Porshe and replaced it with a Yugo’s.

But, hey, if this six game stretch does anything else, maybe it at least shows that LeBron James is the obvious MVP.

Still mad at LeBron, or mad at his teammates?
