Matt Ufford Interview
I am starting to post interviews on my Sports Blogger Forums in the interview section. The first interview is Matt Ufford of With Leather and Kissing Suzy Kolber.
Matt served our country in Iraq, and he talked a little about that:
When I smell the diesel engine of a delivery truck in Manhattan, I think of Humvees in Iraq. I have no idea how a place that’s humid and 115 degrees in April became the cradle of civilization. Blood looks more real when it comes out of someone you know. And the best way to enjoy something simple is to go without it for a very long time.
He also mentioned his opinion on ESPN and other topics:
I’ve tried to come up with some kind of thoughtful analysis here, but what it really comes down to is that I don’t give a shit. Rick Reilly is a nice, funny person whose writing doesn’t particularly resonate with me, and I’ll always think of Mark Fainaru-Wada as an excellent journalist for his work on the Barry Bonds story. But at the end of the day, does it really matter to me which gazillion-dollar media conglomerate either of them works for? I can try to care, but I’m just going to end up rolling my eyes and making a jerk-off motion with my hand.
