Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors Interview

Type in “MLB Trade Rumors” in Google, and his site is the first to come up. Fitting since that’s the name of Tim Dierkes’ most popular blog. It is on pace to surpass 50 million page views this year. He has now been able to quit his job as a search engine marketer to focus on the blog. He has also agreed to be interviewed by JSB. The interview is here: Tim Dierkes Interview

Some highlights:

On how he built traffic:
TD: I started with a fantasy baseball blog where I really worked hard to build traffic. I would go on message boards and really try to get my name out there. I would contact other websites. By doing that for six months, I might have got myself up to 1,000 visits a day. When I started MLB Trade Rumors, I put a link up on my fantasy site. Those 1,000 people must have really told their friends because MLB Trade Rumors is more interesting than Roto Authority, way more than I realized. It just spread naturally.
