Is it Just Me, or Is 35 Free Throws a Lot for One Team?
NBA sabotages their own Finals, Indians draft an ex-con, and Tony Kornheiser is on one boy’s enemies list.
MITCHELL BLATT
“This is what America wants,” Magic Johnson said about the Celtics-Lakers finals matchup. If not America, the NBA anyway. Presumptively, they want the high ratings that two huge markets would provide.
Note to the NBA: fans don’t like free throw contests.
It was fine in the first half. It was 51-46 and a back-and-forth game. But, as the clock progressed, so did the fouls. In fact, in the second half, the Celtics attempted 12 free throw shots. If the NBA wants to fine players for flopping, they should also fine refs for making tick-tack calls. But, they won’t ever do that, because they will lose the ability to rig series.
Shockingly, the Celtics also attempted an outrageous 17 free throws in the fourth quarter of Game Six at Detroit.
I Just Hope This Guy is as Good at Stealing Bases as He is at Stealing TVs
We all know how hard it is for a top college athlete with a free ride, so I guess you can’t blame Lonnie Chisenall for stealing a flat-screen TV, a Playstation 3, some DVDs, and $3,000 from his coaches office. The Indians apparently liked what they saw because they picked this kid with the 29th pick in the draft.
He did have a good season on the field as well. After getting kicked out of South Carolina, he posted a .410 average, 27 doubles, 8 homers, and 66 RBI for Pitt Junior College.

Tony Kornheiser on Kid’s Enemy List; TK Pissed
Tony Kornheiser is a very sensitive man. It was recently revealed in one of Tim Mollen’s recent columns that TK is listed on Mollen’s nephew’s “enemy list” (story) for disparaging comments TK had made about the kid’s hometown of Binghamton.
One of the readers sent the column to TK, and TK responded on his radio show trying to figure out how to get onto the kid’s friends list. (TK on his radio show about it)

I agree with what you’re saying Mitch, but unfortunately the abundance of foul calls is just a part of the NBA nowadays.
It’s funny, too, because it seems like the refs call all the cheap or slight ones and never call the ones that should be called. It’s definitely frustrating but as long as you’ve got teams like the Pistons, who foul on almost every play, you’re going to have games with a zillion fouls called.
