Chris Matthews: The John Madden of Politics
Now that Brett Favre’s getting back into football, I wonder what John Madden thinks? He must be speechlessly happy.
I didn’t think anyone could be so single mindedly obsessed with an athlete or celebrity.
Until I saw Chris Matthews.
The media in general has been fawning over Obama, but no one else has said the following about him:
“He sends thrills up my leg.”
“He’s like a gift from the world to us.”
“[Obama’s speech] is the kind of speech that I think first-graders should see, people in their last year of college should see. This should be like an American track, something you check in with every now and then, like reading the Great Gatsby or Huckleberry Finn.”
John Madden, the bar has been raised.

Chris Matthews used to be entertaining. I’ve grown tired of his spit-flying and never letting guests answer questions he’s asked them. In that respect, John Madden is way easier to tolerate.
