Injuries to Yanks Hughes and Kennedy are as real as Pam Anderson’s breasts

Big City Bias Without The Boston Bullshit

New York Yankees prized farmhands Phil Hughes and Ian Kennedy have both been on the disabled list since Bob Shepherd’s high school days and even some of the most ardent Bombers fans are perplexed at how such minuscule injuries could shelve the two rookies for such extended periods of time.

Yankees Manager Joe Girardi stressed last week that Kennedy (0-3, 7.41 ERA), 23, who had been sipping pina coladas since early-May with a strained right lat muscle before starting for Class A Tampa 2 weeks ago, is no longer rehabilitating his wound.

“This is him getting right,” Girardi said. “He’s not on the D.L. now. This is him earning his way back, just like the other 175 players or so in the minors.”

Meanwhile, Hughes (0-4, 9.00 ERA), 22, is expected to lounge around until September with a strained oblique and cracked rib that was first identified in April.

Many question with reason how such benign scratches have essentially cost the Bombers ballyhooed arms an entire major league baseball season.

In actuality, the answer is quite elementary and simple. “Ike’s” and “Phil Franchise’s” traumas are as legitimate as Pam Anderson’s tits and Yankee brass is doing everything in their powers to keep the kids from further embarrassing themselves on the professional level.

One will believe what they choose to. But, that is the truth of the matter and sometimes the truth hurts. Well, the truth definitely hurts more than the youngsters nicks.

  1. Too bad the Stanks couldn’t have real, MLB-ready pitchers in their system like Boston does.

  2. Ever hear of Joba Chamberlain?….Clay Bucholz looks great though….How’s that fruit’s fingernail anyway?

  3. Oh I’ve heard of Joba. Considering he’s the only pitcher the Stanks farm system has produced in the last decade, he tends to get a little run.

Ever heard of Jonathan Papelbon, Craig Hansen, Manny Delcarmen, Jon Lester, Chris Smith, Justin Masterson, Clay Buchholz….

As for “that fruit”, we” see how he is tonight when he no hits Baltimore for the second time in his career.

  4. Only Sox pitchers that have made any impact on the big league level are Papelbon and, to a degree, Lester….

Just always remember that the Sox have as many championships since 1918 as the Florida Marlins…CASE CLOSED

  5. So this is pretty much just your opinion, huh?

  6. The subject was the young pitchers of the Yankees, and I made a comparison to the multitude of young arm the Sox have developed, and have contributed at the big league level, in just the last couple of years.

Since you have no legitimate response to thaat counterpoint, you chose to bring up the Florida Marlins for some reason.

Way to get off topic, Colin. Just like a typical Yanks fan.

  7. “Only Sox pitchers that have made any impact on the big league level are Papelbon and, to a degree, Lester….”

Our farm pitchers are Wang and Joba and they are better collectively than Lester and Papelbon without dispute.

  8. Hey I like the Florida Marlins, who Sports Illustrated proclaimed as the most efficient franchise in pro sports. Two championships in two playoff trips. You can’t be any more efficient then that.

  9. Ah Colin, I can and will dispute that statement.

Papelbon is a 3 time All Star who has saved 100 games in his brief young career and was on the hill when the Sox won the World series last year, thus making him a champion.

Lester, while still a youngster learning to cope with the pressures of being a major league pitcher on a championship club, has also had to overcome cancer just to be able to live normally, let alone pitch effectively, again. Which he has. His career record is 18-5, he has a no hitter under his belt, and oh yeah, he’s a champion, too.

See I’ll take a couple of proven winners over a decent starter who gags in the postseason and can’t even run the bases without getting injured and an up-and-coming starter/reliver who has yet to prove he can do either effectively at the big league level for an extended period, thank you very much.

  10. Wang and Joba collectively make Papsmear and Lester look like the bitches they are…

On a side note, seriously (I’m wasted right now), when are we going to make this site big?

I am getting older and I don’t have time to keep fuc&ing around with something that has potential….But, isn’t there…

Thoughts, my fellow, bright and cagey writers?

    I am getting disillusioned…..

  11. It’s funny you should mention that, Colin, because I was thinking the same thing last night. (Oh no, we’re thinking alike!) Except I was not wasted - unfortunately.

With the redesign coupled with our immense talents we should be able to, how do you say, blow this thing up. I’m open to suggestions, too, because I have none (maybe I need to add alcohol)

  12. Give it time, ROme wasn’t built in a day…
For a site about to celebrate it’s one year anniversary, I think that we’re certainly headed for a bright future of Juiced Sports
