Sold Out? So What! — How to Get Tickets to Any Event for Less than Face Value

MITCH BLATT
Book Review
I was recently sent a book by Max Deale to review for this blog. His book Sold Out, So What gives detailed strategies for how to buy tickets to any event, even sold out shows, for under face value and then how to sneak your way into better seats once inside. It really does have good strategies.
This 86-page book (really 75; it start on page 11) gives six strategies for finding cheap tickets and five for upgrading your seats once inside. Note that some of these strategies are possibly “illegal”; it is illegal in the city of Auburn Hills (Pistons), for example, to sit in a seat that does not belong to you at any event–but it’s not illegal in most cities, though you may risk getting thrown out of the event.
The strategies he lists are really very interesting; I had never thought of most of them, and they do work. I checked out the websites and strategies he listed for buying cheap tickets, and they work for sports, music, and other events.
The first two chapters of the book are kind of useless because they just keep giving redundant examples of how much money he has saved but once he gets into the strategies, it gets good. He keeps it pretty witty, referring to ushers as “babysitters” and showing pictures of them in mugshots.
Max also uses a lot of hip phrases that get old after a while like in one section he keeps saying “Game On!” when he describes how you can beat the system. Overall, though, it’s a good book to keep around the house and brush up on before looking for tickets and going to a game.
You can buy it from Max’s site for $15. He is going to be matching each sale with books sent overseas to our troops.
Since it was released on Monday, I am one of the first 100 people to own the book. Max will appear on the Ferrall Show on Sirius’ Satelitte Radio’s Howard 101 at 8:30 EST on July 31 to promote it.
Here Max is showing off some of his tickets:

Interesting. If I didn’t know that was a book cover though, I would have thought it was a movie poster for some really cheesy 1980’s flick. Anyhow, it sounds like it could potentially be a good read. How did he get a hold of you to send the book?
What’s up, sjacobs. I contacted some of the most influential sports bloggers to get the book over to them. Spreading word of mouth from a grass routes mentality big time.
Enjoy the book.

Well good luck with the book Max. And try not to be a stranger to Juiced Sports. We’re always adding new stuff, including a huge project we just started called Loser-ville. Nobody Wins. Everyody Loses.
