Kevin Garnett Is A Better Player Than Paul Pierce

COLIN LINNEWEBER
Big City Bias Without The Boston Bullshit

Delusional Boston Celtics superstar Paul Pierce told a Spanish publication last week that he was the best player in the entire world.

“I’m the best player in the world,” said Pierce, 30, a man who has only made the All-NBA Third Team three-times since making his professional debut with the Celtics in 1999. “There’s a line that separates having confidence and being conceited. I don’t cross that line, but I have a lot of confidence in myself.”

One can only surmise that Pierce (AKA “Tiny” Tim Cratchit) is still heavily medicated from the debilitating knee injury that he suffered in Game 1 of the NBA Finals versus the Los Angeles Lakers.

“The Truth” is that Pierce is not even the best player on his own team. By a decent margin, that distinction belongs to Celtics power forward Kevin Garnett.

Prior to obtaining Garnett, 32, who won the 2004 MVP and is a four-time All NBA First Team selection, the Celtics were the biggest laughingstock since Carrot Top. Garnett’s acquisition revitalized Boston’s storied franchise and KG is the man most responsible for the 17th championship the team captured last June.

“The False,” who was deservingly named the NBA Finals MVP after Boston’s 131-92 victory over the Lakers in Game 6, is a very solid player and he was pivotal for the Celtics in the 2008 playoffs.

Nevertheless, Pierce’s boasts were the most illogical assertions since Napoleon Dynamite claimed he slaughtered in excess of 50 wolverines during a summer hunting trip to Alaska.

As Mark Twain said, “It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.”

“The Truth” would be wise to heed Twain’s advice before he is universally referred to as “The False.”

  1. HELL NAW!!!!! Truth is, Paul Pierce is better than KG- KG plays a position that is not very strong in this era, as basketball has become more of a swingman’s game than a frontcourt game… Pierce plays a tougher position, hands down.KG never came close to winning anything b/c he had slackers and dogs on his teams- he got a ring because he got on a team with great players and guys who wanted to win, rather than get a gazillion bucks like Sprewell did (who priced himself out of the Association)or like how Marbury, Ricky Davis, and various others have done… True, ‘The Big Ticket’ is really, really good- but on the basis of the state of the game, and how KG’s 4 spot is usually a liability, Pierce is better- to me, he has every right to say what he said- to the victors go the spoils…. Did Garnett keep KB24 to a very human level in LA, or was it Paul Pierce? Even I could post up Pau “Mr. Softee” Gasol (maybe for 5 seconds, lol), but Pierce dfid a helluva job throughout the whole playoffs- he had Joe Johnson AND Josh Smith to deal with, then LeBron James, Rip Hamilton (the best off-ball player since Reggie Miller)then KB24- the best baller on Planet Earth. Who did KG have to battle? MAYBE Al Horford and Zaza Pachlia in that dust-up… Pierce has had many a bad time in Beantown during his stay there, and in my book, he SHOULD say something like that- he earned it.

  2. Let’s be honest, Paul Pierce would have never won this championship without KG or Ray Allen. In fact, not long before the draft Pierce wanted out of Boston and if he was the best “player in the world”, like Kobe, he would have been confident enough with his supporting staff to make a run. The “best player in the world” would be able to take over any game at any time. Pierce has never displayed that ability. MJ displayed that ability, Kobe displays that ability, LeBron displays that ability but Paul Piece does not. The fact is KG and Ray Allen helped Paul Pierce tremendously in the Finals. He was able to get open b/c there was more than one threat, unlike Kobe. His teamates made him a better player and enabled him to score and play defense and ultimately win the Finals MVP, but Pierce is obviously joking when he made this comment.

  3. can’t w8 4 basketball season ta start up… the East is gonna be better… tired of the West and their no-defense playing, softer-than-tissue paper, media darling selves… especially the Houston Rockets…
