What a Boring Olympics

I’m going off to college in four days, so I haven’t had much time to write lately. Not like I would write, even if I did have time. The most exciting thing to happen in the Olympics was those 70-year-old women getting thrown into reeducation camp for filling out an application to protest.

I’m kidding, kind of. Michael Phelps was really exciting. The US basketball final where we beat Spain by 11 for gold might have been exciting. If it wasn’t on at 2 am this morning. They replayed it at 9. It should be a prime time event.

The TV schedule for the Olympics looked like this: beach volleyball, track, swimming, gymnastics. There’s 28 sets of events.

Only about five of the sports are real sports in America, and one of those sports is not gymnastics.

Basketball was the most exciting and highest anticipated event for most American sports fans by far, but none of their medal round games were broadcast at good times, and SportsCenter didn’t even seem to talk about them much.

The best coverage we had of Olympic basketball was Cris Collinsworth asking Kobe how much he hated America.

Well, now it’s over. Meet again four years in England?

We won’t have any human rights violations to speak of or redemption medals for the unpatriotic basketball team. Oh, well.

  1. […] Reflecting on the Olympics…they’re boring. […]

  2. I don’t think these Games were that boring. The opening and closing ceremonies were incredible. Michael Phelps was amazing to watch as well as Women’s Gymnastics and Mens Basketball for Basketball fans. You are right about the times they chose for some og the Medal Rounds for the Redeam Team. You could always watch Water Polo for some excitement! Keep up the good stuff, and good luck at school. Sportstuffblog
