Sprint NFL Mobile Live Webinar With Howie Long
Scott and I just got done viewing a Sprint NFL Mobile Live Webinar with Howie Long that featured questions with Howie at the end. So we chatted about it on AIM and made sure to put a lot of product placement in, though we also talked a lot about Howie’s Q and A session (which we may have more on later this week).
Anyway, this is what we thought about it (Scott in gray, and Mitch in plain):
Scott - The first thing that stuck out to me when listening to the features of Sprint’s NFL Mobile Live is that you can now listen to every game’s radio feed on your phone
Mitchell - ya, that’s pretty cool. you can listen to any game so if you are on the road, you’ve got your home team.
Another cool thing is that you can watch all 8 NFL Network games LIVE (supposedly), that way you won’t miss epic contests like Arizona-Philadelphia on Thanksgiving!
Calm down there, cards fan
Of course, I think you have a better chance of going blind then actually watching every minute of the game on your phone, considering how small the screen size is.
Well, as the host said, that’s not what the thing is meant for.
Good point Mitch, good point. So Howie long stated that he’s been working at Fox now for 15 years and Terry Bradshaw could really use one, no, make it two Sprint phones.
He needs a lot of help…
My thoughts exactly.
What struck me about those comments and about Howie’s other comments interspersed throughout the conference is that Howie is a great product spokesperson.
Yes, he sure seemed committed while not coming across as over the top. You had to love when he starting naming things that weren’t around when he was playing, and instead of saying the internet, he said Foot Locker? Were they paying him too?
That must have been at the start, because i didn’t get my video working until about 10 minutes in.
O, haha, yeah Howie’s quote: “When I started in the leauge Pre-Foot Locker, pre-internet…”
Refs did wear black and white jerseys back then though right?
TV was in color then right?
Howie Long: a young 48
After the conference when they got to the questions, my favorite question to long was who’s better: you or your son?
He answered by saying his son was a better person, smarter, etc.
I heard that and I was sort of blown away
Good job Miami!
(not)
Speaking of sons, they’re popping out athletes in that family like an assembly line making cars in Detroit. Chris Long is a rookie for the Rams. Kyle is a freshman at Florida State (maybe I should make friends with him). And the youngest, Howie (original name) is an All American Lacrosse player going to Virginia after he finishes his senior year of high school.
What are they feeding those kids?
Speaking of Chris Long, i read in SI on him before the draft about how his college teammates thought he was a spoiled son of a pro, but he proved to them that he was one of the toughest players on the team.
Yeah, he’s supposedly one tough mother. So moving back to Sprint’s NFL Mobile again, what are they going to think of next?
Well, they just keep coming up with better enhancements and improving customer value. That is why, according to a study they quoted, that Sprint has more NFL fans than any other network.
And it’s free! …for Sprint users.
Ya for many networks you have to pay for those extras
I was thinking that next year, they’ll send Sprint users 3D glasses in the mail, and you can watch the players jump out of the screen. That my friend, is the future.
That would be scary. Think of what Peyton Manning’s rocket laser arm could do to you!
AP- Fan sues Peyton Manning after rocket arm injures him while watching game live on mobile phone.
So who’s a better spokesman: Long or Manning?
O I have to say Manning. Manning is funny, much more down to earth.
I’d say Long is better when it comes to sitting down with people and discussing the phone, though.
Howie came across as way to serious. Besides, Manning’s infamous SNL skit for United Way was the greatest product placement skit in history.
Ya, you’ve got a point.
No one will ever top that Plus, he’s already done that cool Sprint commercial where Jason Taylor was trying to sack him and sharks were defending his receivers. That’s good stuff if you ask me!
Psychedelic.
And apparently, Howie Long likes Wedding Crashers. And if you’re the third man (at your friend’s wedding) go ahead, whip out that Sprint phone and feel free to check on your fantasy team. At least that’s what Long believes.
You got to keep your priorities in order.
ESPN MVP move over!
Yes, anything that takes money away from ESPN is a good thing.
Truly amazing. I was so excited when Howie was asked my question, but he didn’t answer it. “Will this be the year the Cards win the NFC West” I asked, and he just said they have reason to be optimistic. I want my money back!
Well you can’t answer anything for certain, especially in concerning the Cardinals.
This is true. I guess if he made a legit prediction it might open the door for Cardinal fans to get too excited and explode instantaneously.
That’s never a good thing.
No, they’re like an endangered species.
If the rest of the nfc west continues to degrade, eventually you will win it.
We need to be treated with great caution. I don’t know, that’s like saying after 98 years the Cubs are due to win a World Series.
SI thinks they will every year…
It sells more copies. Now that Rick Reilly left SI for ESPN and SI has no great columnists left, they need all the hype for front covers that they can get.
Yeah, well Dan Patrick left from ESPN, but he’s not a columnist…though i do like his page.
It’s interesting, but far from earth shattering. By the way, do you think Howie Long was paid more each time he said, “People need access now, and they get it here.”
Not being an expert on contract law I can’t say.
Touche salesman, touche. Okay, let’s wrap this puppy up: final thoughts on this “Webinar.” Better then expected?
It was pretty cool. I didn’t know what to expect, and it was cool asking questions to Howie.
I was hoping he’d shake my hand at the end, but I guess technology has come only so far.
I bet Sprint is working on an online peer to peer handshaking technology…as we speak.
O well (air handshake). At least we’ll always have our Foot Locker.
