Elton Brand is out for the season, ending a disappointing first season with the 76ers

When healthy Elton Brand is one of the better players in the NBA.

But Elton Brand doesn’t stay healthy.  Well, not anymore at least.

In 29 games for the Sixers he averaged a very un-$80 million like 13.8 points per game.  The Sixers, who were expected to be one of the East’s second tier teams this year, have flopped badly, hovering around .500 most of the year, and as of press they were 24-24, not exactly Championship contenders like the team envisioned.

Brand was supposed to be the missing piece to a decent Philly team that gave the Pistons a good fight last year in the playoffs, but so far he has been a disappointment.  And now, with news that he is out for the season, the fighting Sixers are back to the same gritty, scrappy bunch that over-achieved last year.  That folks, wasn’t exactly the plan.
