Do you believe in Miracles, errr… Magic?

Is two epic Beantown collapses possible in the same month?  Logic says no, but crazier things have happened before

SCOTT JACOBS

Alive.  By the skin of their chinny, chin, chin.

Their bluebacksides nearly halfway out the door, Orlando is still kicking.  The odds are still thoroughly stacked against them as they attempt to chip away at a deficit that has proven insurmountable in NBA annals, but they’re still around.  Barely.  But barely is better than nothing, and the Magic are 1/4 of the way to a comeback that would absolutely pulverize the heart of Beantown sports fans worldwide.

We’re not saying it’s going to happen.  Then again, who saw the Bruins disintegrating against the Flyers in their playoff series either?

Boston is known for the most famous comeback in sports history.  You may recall the Red Sox stunning the Yankees in four straight in 2004 after falling behind three games to none to break their curse and win a title.

Could the greatest thing to ever happen to Boston sports, reverse course and bite Beantown in the backside?  Twice?

Orlando’s game four win was far from dominant.  But it was a win.  It took overtime.  Overtime?  The way these playoffs had been going, it’s hard to believe games go past their expected 48 minute time frame.  But alas it took the extra five minutes, a monster game from Dwight Howard, some super huge clutch shots from Jameer Nelson and J.J. Redick and some big time defense in the closing moments to keep the fort up and standing for at least one more night.

Orlando is finally on the board.  After a spirited game one comeback that fell short and a game two loss where they just couldn’t seal the deal, the Magic finally finished one off.  The Magic have a pulse once again.

Brooms nationwide be damned.  Idiot analysts, shut up.

There will be no sweep in either the East or West finals.  Neither series is over yet.  And how epic would it be if the Suns and Magic both came back to set up a series that would just demoralize all the assumptionizers out there.  It’s not a word, I know.  But neither of these series has reached match point yet either.  So stop writing these dumb articles everyday sports media.  Let the series play out.  That’s why they play the damn games.  That’s why we watch them.

If every series played out as expected sports would be a lull.  But surprises make sports great.  You just never, ever know.

It’s just one win.  But Rome wasn’t built in a day.  It’s going to take an equally aggressive effort from Dwight, Jameer and Co. to get this puppy back to Boston for a game six that could really start to nerve rack the locals.

So this seven game series shifts back to Disney-ville, where the Magic faithful will be hungry for a gritty showing and proof that yes– their team can win a home game against the men of Green.

It won’t be easy.  Insurmountable comebacks rarely are.  But it’s due to happen one of these years.

One game down.  Three to go.
