Double Coverage: Week Two, the Picks

Double Coverage: Week Two, the Picks

After an upset-laden first week, resident pickatalogist Mr. Kaye is back for week two

MIKE KAYE

Week one truly was wild.  The Colts, Jets, Chargers, and Cowboys are all in last place after one game.  But we’ve got 16 more weeks to shuffle things up.  Starting this week.  Here’s the picks.

Ravens @ Bengals/The Pick: Ravens. The Bengals looked like kittens last week so they will look to make some noise but I think Ray Lewis, his Old Spice, and the Ravens will have something to say about it. You saw the hit on Dustin Keller last week? Yeah…

Bears @ Cowboys/ The Pick: Cowboys. I think the 3-4 is great against a Mike Martz defense. The rush linebackers are way too much for blocking tight ends of Martz’s favor. Look for Felix Jones to run and run a lot.

Eagles @ Lions: The Pick: Up to my boy Scott again, I don’t pick personal games.
(Scott’s Pick: This game has upset written all over it, but o wait a second, Shaun Hill is now under center for the Lions not Stafford.  I think Vick in his first Eagles start struggles with Schwartz’s schemes, but let’s face it, Detroit scares no one with Hill taking snaps. Eagles in a close one.)

Cardinals @ Falcons/ The Pick: Falcons. If winning is for the birds, I think the Falcons rebound against a mediocre Cardinal team. With no linebackers to defend Tony Gonzalez, they will have to put a safety like Adrian Wilson on him, leaving the secondary weak against the run and the nine routes (for you that are not a aware, a nine route is a streak to the endzone on a straight line).

Chiefs @ Browns/The Pick: Chiefs. I feel like the Chiefs are the darling of the NFL this week. My buddy already picked them to win the division after he slain my choice of Jamaal Charles for our share Fantasy League. Anyway, the Chiefs can dominate a poorly matched 3-4 team with Dwayne Bowe, Dexter McCluster and Chris Chambers running across the middle.

Bills @ Packers/ The Pick: Packers. Next???

Steelers @ Titans/The Pick: Titans. I think the game comes down to playmakers and Dennis Dixon is a poor man’s Vince Young so I think the middle-class version will do well leading his team against lucky 1-0 team.

Bucs @ Panthers/The Pick: Bucs. If Matt Moore was a definite start, I’d waver on this pick but his status is up-in-the-air with George Clooney. I think Gerald McCoy has a fun day against fellow rookie Jimmy C.

Dolphins @ Vikings/The Pick: Dolphins. Upset of the week. I think the 3-4 rush of Misi and Cam Wake is going to be tough for the Viking’s once awesome O-line. Also I like Brandon Marshall against a week secondary any day. This game will be known as the Greg Camarillo Redemption Bowl or The Benny Sapp “Haha You Miss Me” Bowl.

Rams @ Raiders/The Pick: Raiders. I like Mark Clayton on the Rams but that’s about it. Look for safeties Tyrone Branch and Michael Huff to have big roles in stopping the run and pass. Louis Murphy can beat any DB on the Rams and still make it home for supper in Oakland by the end of game time.

Seahawks @ Broncos/The Pick: Broncos. This is one of those picks where whoever wins, the guy picking feels like a loser. I think the high-altitude helps the kicking game and I don’t like Seattle on the road.

Texans @ Redskins/The Pick: Texans. Texans are the truth. When you beat the Colts essentially with out Andre Johnson, you’re a good team. The Skins got lucky last Monday, won’t happen with Texas’s other team.

Patriots @ Jets/The Pick: Pats. Brady is going to look for Moss a lot and perhaps too much in this game but I think the Pats are going to ride the way of beating the overrated. The Jets much like the Bengals will be vulnerable against the NE passing attack.

Jaguars @ Chargers/The Pick: Jags. Jacksonville’s D-line flowed so well last week, its hard to believe. I like Mike Thomas against Antoine Cason. Garrard will go back to his awful play but I think Aaron Kampman, Tyson Alualu, and the D, carry the weight.

Giants @ Colts/The Pick: Colts. Big brother Peyton is going to dominate Eli like it’s the backyard in the 80s. Reggie Wayne is too much for an awful group of corners and I expect Dallas Clark to have a huge game.

Saints @ 49ers/The Pick: 49ers. Yeah, that’s right, I’m going against the grain. I am over the Saints already, while they are great, I just think they have holes. I like Shawntae Spencer on the wideouts and I think Patrick Willis will shut down the run.
