Double Coverage: Midseason Report, the Awards

Handing out my middle of the season awards in part 1 of the Midseason Report

MIKE KAYE

First off, I must apologize to my adoring readers about last week. I live in Jacksonville so I hosted quite a bit of people for the UF/UGA game so I was really unable to get the computer. Also the Eagles had a bye week so I took a vacation for about six days when it came to football. But on the bright side, I am back. To make it up to you, I will make this Part 1 special. I will tell you my mid-season awards and have blurbs on each team in the league. Lets do this…

Mid-Season MVP-Tom Brady, New England Patriots
He is the best player on the best team. He has been able to get production out of numerous first and second year players along with Deion “I’m coasting because I was a Superbowl MVP” Branch. The Pats are 6-1 and they don’t look to have much of a challenge on the way to the playoffs. I hate to admit it but Brady is as good as advertised as he always is.

Mid-Season Offensive Player of the Year- Chris Johnson, Tennessee Titans
He has the Titans looking like AFC Championship favorites. He leads the league in rushing touchdowns (8) and is third in the league in rushing. I almost picked Arian Foster of the Texans as he is second in yards and touchdowns but Johnson wins out because he is on the better team and he scores more (you know, cause it’s offense). If you take Johnson off the Titans they are in the same position the Vikings are, talented team with no direction or identity.

Mid-Season Defensive Player of the Year-
Clay Matthews, Green Bay Packers
He simply makes the games change. Even after missing a game, he still leads the league in sacks. The Packers felt his loss against the Dolphins, as they loss but should have killed the teal and orange. Matthews makes the offense play better as well, watch a GBP game and notice that after he makes a big play, the next time Aaron Rodgers hits the field, the team plays inspired.

Mid-Season Offensive Rookie of the Year
- Sam Bradford, St. Louis Rams
Impressive, most impressive…The team won a game last year, they have already won four at the mid-point of the season. He has almost no one around him but Steven Jackson and he is making it work. For the Rams to be a .500 is to be crazy a month ago.

Mid-Season Defensive Rookie of the Year –
Ndamukong Suh, Detroit Lions
He has made the Lions pass rush intense. He is a beast against both run and pass and is making Detroit look legit even at 2-5. Suh makes the pressures that help out one of the worst secondaries in the league, making him the most valuable player on defense for the Motor City.

  1. I’ve said that least 4822052 times. The problem this like that is they are just too compilcated for the average bird, if you know what I mean

  2. Nicely done, what you’re saying makes a bunch of sense. Continue all of the good article, it definitely is much appreciated.
