Double Coverage: Week 10, the picks
MIKE KAYE
Last Week: 6-6 / Season: 59-50 / Guest: 4-4 (1-0 last week)
This season just keeps on getting stranger. This week the picks come before the column because NFL Football is back on Thursdays! YAY!!! Shall we?
Ravens @ Falcons-The Pick: Falcons. Atlanta is tough to beat in well…Atlanta. Ravens are coming off a win that has led to distractions all week and the Falcons look poised for the win. The first Thursday night game of the season will be a close game though.
Lions @ Bills- The Pick: Lions. Detriot is ready to bust out of their seems. Some tough breaks (for Matt Stafford literally) and some poor calls have cost the blue and silver a few wins. This week they play a team that any BCS team in the top 15 could beat, the Bills. I know Shaun Hill is starting but just watch Calvin Johnson destroy the secondary of Buffalo that is actually considered the team’s strength.
Vikings @ Bears-The Pick: Bears. This one is really a toss up. Both teams are greatly disappointing but after a week a crap talking from his team and an emotional win last week, the Minnesota Brad Childress’s will flop.
Jets @ Browns- The : Jets. Colt McCoy has been fantastic but I think his defense will let him down this week. The Ryan Brothers are going to have a lot of bulletin board material after this week.
Bengals @ Colts- The Pick: Colts. Peyton Manning is frustrated because of last weeks lost. I would hate to be the Bengals this week.
Texans @ Jaguars- The Pick: Texans. Andre Johnson is due a big game. This will be it.
Titans @ Dolphins- The Pick: Titans. Randy Moss will continue to own the Dolphins, just like he has with the Pats, Vikings, and now Titans. The Titans outmatch the Fins in a lot of ways and it will be interesting to see how Chad Pennington plays in his first start since Week 3 of last year.
Panthers @ Buccaneers-The Pick: Bucs. A game of boringness. Josh Freeman is looking good, and Jimmy Clussen is simply not.
Chiefs @ Broncos- The Pick: Chiefs. The Broncos seem to like to beat themselves and this division contest is no different. Jamaal Charles will have at least two rushing TD’s against the weak Denver D.
Seahawks @ Cardinals-The Pick: Cardinals. These teams are both really bad and inconsistent. I like Larry Fitzgerald against the secondary of the Seahawks. Matt Hasselbeck is back but that is really inconsequential.
Cowboys @ NY Giants-The Pick: NYG. Dallas is bad, like so bad that they fired an inept coach for another inept coach to replace him for the rest of the year. The Giants are riding high but don’t be surprised if Dallas somehow makes it a game.
Rams @ 49ers-The Pick: 49ers. Troy Smith is not Alex Smith…he is a winner. Look for Troy to single out Michael Crabtree to take advantage of the main weakness of the Rams; their secondary.
Patriots @ Steelers-The Pick: Pats. The Pats look like they have kinks, as do the Steelers but this will be a fight to the death between serious AFC contenders. I just think the Pats are better and the Steelers normally over-achieve.
Eagles @ Redskins- Guest Pick: Eagles. My pal Bryan, saxophonist for band Audzio (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Audzio/131614246891104) makes the pick this week. He chooses the Eagles “because Vick is hot and there is too much in-fighting within the Redskins team.”
