Some huge NFL games on the slate this weekend, including a big time clash at Lambeau
Dallas -7 @ Arizona
The Cowboys are playing for Jason Garrett’s job and should score in the high 20s/low 30s. The Cardinals will play musical quarterbacks once again with no best case scenario. Arizona doesn’t even have pride to play for and at this point they just want to get the season over with.
Minnesota @ Philadelphia -14.5
We saw Monday night how this new Vikings squad reacts to bad conditions and a physical defense. How’s a Sunday snowstorm in Philly sound? Lay the ridiculous points.
Washington +7 @ Jacksonville
The Redskins kept up with the Cowboys last week. Somehow Rex Grossman and Ryan Torrain are in rhythm on offense. Anybody see that coming? Neither will Jacksonville, who might be deflated after giving the division back to the Colts last week.
San Francisco @ St. Louis -2.5
Did somebody say musical quarterbacks? The 49ers will throw Troy Smith out there this week. The only thing more inconsistent than San Fran’s starting lineup is the frequency of Mike Singletary flip-flopping between genius and moron. Take St. Louis at home trying to win the division.
Seattle @ Tampa Bay -6.5
We’ve learned two things the hard way this season. Seattle is a joke and Tampa Bay may not win every game, but they play hard every week. This is only relevant because the only way Tampa loses this game is if they throw in the towel after being embarrassed last week. They won’t.
New England @ Buffalo +7.5
Whatever smart football people can learn from the Sunday night game that Green Bay threw at the Patriots, the Bills have learned and will employ. They already played the Pats tough on the road and should keep it close and lose by a handful at home.
New York Jets @ Chicago -1
The Bears showed the toughness Monday night that you need to beat the Jets. Both their defense and offense appears to be at the top of their games. Add Mark Sanchez’s injured shoulder and Thursday downgrade and this could be a laugher. The Jets better not talk any trash or else they’ll end up with their foot in their mouth. Sorry, couldn’t help it.
Baltimore -3.5 @ Cleveland
I know this is a “trap game” and a division game, but I just can’t justify taking a team who just lost to the Bengals against a team that just won in Pittsburgh. The Ravens need this game to keep their playoff spot. They won’t let themselves be caught off guard.
Tennessee @ Kansas City -5
Tempting to pick the Titans after two straight weeks of suddenly putting up a ton of points, but Kansas City bounced back with the return of their quarterback last week and knows that one slip up will let San Diego sweep in and steal the division. They should play all out and their advantageous home field crowd should make an impact.
Indianapolis -3 @ Oakland
This is a bad spot for Indy. McFadden could have a huge day and the Oakland secondary could do a serious number on these receivers, but like a lot of games this week there is one team that is playing for it’s survival. In this game that team is Indy and they have Peyton Manning.
Houston @ Denver +2.5
One team (Houston) knows they’re done and are retreating. The other team (Denver) has shaken things up at coach and QB and can only get better. Take the home underdog in a meaningless game.
New York Giants +3 @ Green Bay
The Giants either collapse or rally behind what happened last weekend. I’m guessing the latter as they go into Green Bay to chase down a concussed Aaron Rodgers or two time starter Matt Flynn. The Packers gave the Patriots a scare last week, but their lack of running game is still a serious problem and New York’s defense can rush the passer as good as anybody.
San Diego @ Cincinnati +7.5
The Chargers have lost to worse, right? I’m not saying they’ll lose, but they definitely play down to their competition on the road. The Bengals have nothing to lose and will play a close game as they have all year.
New Orleans +2 @ Atlanta
Tough game to call after the Saints lost last week. This game was shaping up to mean everything. Now it only represents a one in a million shot for the Saints to win the division pending other unlikely results next week. Therefore, it’s tough to gauge who feels the urgency if either of them do at all. I think the Saints throw everything at them and pray for a miracle next week.
