Why is no one outraged over “Cammy Cam’s Juice?”

Why is no one outraged over “Cammy Cam’s Juice?”

It’s as if Cam Newton can get away with anything. O wait, he pretty much already has

It’s been four days already and I can’t believe the lack of outrage over Cam Newton’s display of immaturity and borderline sexual harassment Saturday afternoon.  For those who flipped the channel after the game was in hand, here’s what happened.

Cam Newton was talking to sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson about how awesome he is and why he thinks he is so awesome.  Cam told her about his special “Cammy Cam Juice”, which is just a mixture of two different Gatorade flavors (or something like that).  She told him she’d like to show the cameras and he suggested she try some.  Before the cameras cut to her, Newton ran back to his buddies on the bench, grabbed their necks to point them toward Wolfson, and then mischievously whispered and laughed hysterically as she (on camera) raised the bottle above her head, opened wide, and squirted the mixture in her mouth.

Now you be the judge as to what you think he was saying to his teammates and coaches.  It was either “Hey, check it out.  My sports drink is getting free publicity on CBS bro!  I might be able to market this into a serious opportunity.  What a break!”  Or…”Dude look! Homegirl’s about to squirt my juice on her face on tv!  Look how she’s holding the bottle yo!”

You watch the video below and tell me which one 21 year old Cam Newton was saying.

It really was a disgusting thing to watch.  But the oblivious announcers played along and I haven’t heard or seen anything from any major network or publication that covers sports about how insulting an denigrating it was.  Of course Wolfson didn’t do herself any favors by licking her lips after and saying “too sweet for me.”  But that’s not the point.

Even the two guys I was watching it with didn’t think it was that big of a deal.  Maybe I do just have a really sick mind, but I don’t think you have to be a deviant to see something wrong with an athlete tricking an attractive female reporter into (and think about these words) SQUIRTING HIS JUICE INTO HER WIDE OPEN MOUTH while he tells his boys to watch.

It shows the severe lack of judgement that apparently runs in his family.  His father, either alone or (more likely) with Cam’s knowledge and blessing, tried (and failed) to sell his son to at least one college for $180,000.00.  He got away with it.  He committed this despicable act and embarrassed this naive girl on national television all the while snickering and pointing from the shadows.  He got away with it.  He’s going to win the Heisman in a blowout and will most likely win the National Championship too.  He will be celebrated for months until he makes millions on his first NFL contract next summer.  And all of a sudden we’ll have another Lebron James on our hands.  Another Randy Moss.  Another Tiger Woods.  Another athlete who has been told how great he is all his life and consequently thinks he can treat people like garbage or (sometimes worse) toys.

There is no rule or law that can prevent this from happening.  Being a douchebag and having an inflated ego is not against the law.  If it was we’d have to build a gigantic jail for all the New York and Philadelphia fans.  But we can hold these guys accountable early in hope to salvage the decent person that lies in everybody.  In a PC world where nothing said goes unnoticed and unscrutinized no matter how innocent the actual context, we can’t just let people like Cam Newton go without a warning.  Unfortunately, the onus is on the parents to instill the virtue of treating people as equals, but as long as parents of gifted children continue to see dollar signs in their babies’ eyes, we’re going to keep seeing a whole lot of juice facials, hard working chefs’ food being thrown back in their faces, families being ruined, and talents being taken to far off places.

  1. CHILL OUT. some of these accusations you make sound racist. And Cam Newton is just a big kid. He was playing around. he did nothing wrong. This is way out of line. As of 5 seconds ago, he’s a Heisman Trophy winner. :D Next time you wanna talk about Cam, watch this:
