Juiced Sports Presents: V2, Our 2011 Mock NFL Draft, Round 2
Projecting the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft in our second mock draft
MIKE KAYE
The championship game match-ups have been set. Here’s a break from your non-stop Rex Ryan, New York football Jets coverage.
33. New England (14-2) ^ Carolina / DeMarcus Love / Arkansas / OT
Can play either OG or OT; basically insurance for Logan Mankins.
34. Denver (4-12) / Rahim Moore / UCLA / FS
More help in the secondary for Denver will cure their defensive problems.
35. Buffalo (4-12) / Kyle Rudolph / Notre Dame / TE
The Bills need another target for Ryan Fitzpatrick and there is no other guy around that I’d rather have then Rudolph.
36. Cincinnati (4-12) / Christian Ponder / Florida State / QB
Carson Palmer’s replacement?
37. Arizona (5-11) / Jared Crick / Nebraska / DE/DT
Darnell Dockett’s replacement and a younger piece to pair with Dan Williams.
38. Cleveland (5-11) / Mikel Leshoure / llinois / HB
Picking Leshoure gives Peyton Hillis a buddy in the backfield.
39. San Francisco (6-10) / Jeremy Beal / Oklahoma / OLB
Beal is a good college player that can benefit from the Niners possible scheme change.
40. Tennessee (6-10) / Greg Jones / Michigan St / OLB
Will Witherspoon is okay, but they can stand to get better on the weakside.
41. Dallas (5-11) / Cameron Heyward / Ohio St / DE/DT
Heyward is a beast and can dominate if given the chance by whoever Dallas’s D-coordinator will be.
42. Washington (6-10) / Jimmy Smith / Colorado / CB
Carlos Rogers most likely won’t be back and who knows when DeAngelo Hall will have a rough streak of games.
43. Houston (6-10) / Jerrell Powe / Ole Miss / NT
Nose tackle is a position of need in Wade’s defense.
44. Minnesota (6-10) / Bruce Carter / UNC / OLB
If Chad Greenway leaves, Carter is a suitable replacement.
45. Detroit (6-10) / Rodney Hudson / FSU / OG
Best pure guard in the draft and if he falls this far, the Lions will not hesitate to pick him up.
46. St. Louis (7-9) / Drake Nevis / LSU / DT
Help for Jake Long and James Hall.
47. Denver (4-12) ^ Miami / Ras-I Dowling / Virginia / CB
I cannot stress enough how badly the Broncos need help in their secondary.
48. Jacksonville (8-8) / Quan Sturdivant / UNC / MLB
The former Tar Heel is an upgrade over both Kirk Morrison and Justin Durant.
49. New England (14-2) / Deandre McDaniel / Clemson / S
James Saunders is good, but…
50. San Diego (8-8) / Ryan Broyles / Oklahoma / KR
The worst special teams unit in football gets some much needed help.
51. NY Giants (10-6) / Kris O’Dowd / USC / C
The Giants need some youth on the O-Line.
52. Tampa Bay (10-6) / Matt Reynolds / BYU / OT
Reynolds provides a nice bookend to Donald Penn.
53. Kansas City (10-6) / Joseph Barksdale / LSU / OT
He’s from LSU and Brandon Albert has been disappointing, so it is inevitable he will be a Chief.
54. Indianapolis (10-6) / Robert Sands / West Virginia / S
The annual Bob Saunders season by season drama needs to end.
55. Philadelphia (10-6) / Darius Morris / Temple / OT
Winston Justice and King Dunlap have proven that the RT spot is still a concern.
56. New Orleans (11-5) / Marvin Austin / UNC / DT
Another DT means another run-stopper.
57. Seattle (7-9) / Pat Devlin / Delaware / QB
The eventual successor for Matt Hasselbeck or Charlie Whitehurst.
58. Green Bay (10-6) / Nate Irving / NC State / ILB/MLB
If AJ Hawk leaves, Nate Irving would make for an easier transition.
59. NY Jets (11-5) / John Moffitt / Wisconsin / OG
Vlade Duccasse could use some competition.
60. Baltimore (11-5) / DeVier Posey / Ohio St / WR
Derrick Mason will retire sooner rather than later.
61. Chicago (11-5) / Deunta Williams / UNC / FS
Chris Harris isn’t getting any younger.
62. Pittsburgh (12-4) / Leonard Hankerson / Miami / WR
Hankerson can be what Limas Sweed was supposed to be.
63. Atlanta (13-3) / Casey Matthews / Oregon / MLB
A bit of a reach but darn his hair is awesome. Mike Peterson’s a backup at this point in his career.
64. New England (14-2) / Phil Taylor / Baylor / DE/DT
Luxury pick for the Pats.
