Li Na, the first Chinese player to make it to a Grand Slam Final

“Tough to say how far I can go, but I always try as far as I can.”

Li Na became the first Chinese player ever to make it to a Grand Slam Final last night when she beat number 1 seed Caroline Wozniacki in the Australian Open. Wozniacki has been slammed by the media for hosting boring press conferences–it got so bad that she even had to pretend to have been attacked by a kangaroo–so it is refreshing to see Li Na make it to the semis where she will continue to provide actual entertaining press conferences. After beating boring Wozniacki, she was asked what got her through the tough match. “Prize money.”

A few funny other funny interview comments:

“What got you through the third set?” “Prize money.”

“Right now, my husband is my coach, so … on the court, I have to listen to what he say, but out of the court, it’s the opposite.”

“Before, he also tennis player, so he knows what the player think about on the court. But difference, he is man, I am woman, so man and woman different idea. He always think about I should follow him. But I always think about he should follow me. That is the problem.”

Why’d you win? Because I am better.
