A weak win for the Mavs: they need more going forward
Dallas’ historic comeback was great and all, but they better have more than just a miracle rally in them if they hope to win this series
JORDAN WAGNER
Let’s remember; this author wanted Dallas to win the whole thing. You can probably find the exact article where I discuss that somewhere on this same webpage. Did they deserve to win last night, though? Not at all.
Dallas in the first half was the equivalent of someone trying to pull a door that says “push.”
How do you let Miami shut you down on defense like that? Oh, some might say, but they’re such a good defensive team. They pride themselves on defense. No excuses. You are the winner of the Western conference finals. You better come ready to break through that South Beach defense, otherwise you’ll make even more turnovers than you did last night, Dallas.
Don’t get me wrong, I will take the win. And thank heaven it’s moving back to Dallas now. But come on, Mavs. Unless you were specifically baiting the Heat to feel good because you wanted to make a 15 point comeback, I think you all need to find a way to be effective earlier on. Sooner or later, 15 point comebacks run out (I mean, they should, right? Do either of these teams do anything that’s not out of the ordinary?)
I don’t think the Heat could have played any better than they did. Or at least Wade couldn’t have. 36 point and 6 assists?! I have one word for this series; screwy.
Go Mavs. And I say that with a mixed sense of happiness over the win, confusion over how Miami blew that lead, frustration over what it took to get there, and eagerness to see how a home court crowd affects the Mavericks.
