Is LeBron James helping Dwayne Wade build a legacy?

Or is Wade building a legacy without James’ help?

MITCH BLATT

LeBron James joined the Miami Heat in order to win a championship because he wanted to establish a legacy and knew he wasn’t good enough to win a championship in Cleveland. After the Heat won game 3, James is 2 games closer to achieving his goal. But if the Heat win the title, will it really establish James’ legacy as a winner, or will LeBron simply be helping further Wade’s?

Or, to be more precise, is Wade simply furthering his legacy? As CBS Sports.com’s Gregg Doyel points out, LeBron scored 17 points in game three and went one-of-three shooting in the fourth quarter. Combined, in the fourth quarter of the three games, he’s scored a total of 9 points.

That goes along with his shrinking from big games in the playoffs with the Cavs, particularly last year’s abysmal performance against the Celtics. Did LeBron think going to Miami and letting Wade and Bosh win a championship for him would establish his legacy as The Best Basketball Player Ever? He’s establishing a legacy alright, but its a legacy of folding under the pressure and expecting things to come to him without effort.

  1. I WATCHED GAME THREE LAST NIGHT AND WAS IMPRESSED WITH DWAYNE WADE. I AM NOT A FAN OF THE MIAMI HEAT BUT WHAT STOOD OUT TO ME WAS CHRIS BOSH, THE AFOREMENTIONED WADE, AND LEBRON SMILING ON THE BENCH. UNDOUBTEDLY, LEBRON WILL REAPPEAR IN THE SERIES BUT THE TRUE STARS SO FAR ARE THE HEAT WITH AN ASSIST FROM LEBRON!

  2. Did you even watch the game or are you only following Doyel’s absurd lead? If you did watch the game, you’d notice that LeBron was double teamed all but one possession in the 4th quarter. Would you rather have LeBron fighting double teams, or Dwyane Wade one-on-one against Jason Kidd? If your answer is LeBron, then you don’t even deserve to have a site. You really should think twice before writing this stuff.

It’s insulting to our collective intelligence to have someone write the things that guy does. What’s worse is that you follow his lead and believe it.

  3. I agree Larry. I think you’re totally wrong on this one Mitch. Even when LeBron does the right thing people find fault. Wade was hot, he deferred. That doesn’t make him any less of a star. The Decision has rendered people completely incapable of being rational with LeBron. You can hate him all you want, but give credit where credit it due. He’s been mostly remarkable in the last two series. A few decent games in the Finals and everyone jumps him like he’s a bum. Ridiculous.

  4. Yes, criticizing LeBron James for the way he executed The Decision and for having an ego off the floor should be separated from criticism of his game on the court. It’s very easy to criticize LeBron for being self-centered off of it, but he’s a good teammate on it and he played a smart game Sunday, one that resulted in a win. It’s really silly that we’re even having this discussion. Had LeBron scored 45 points and lost, then there would be complaints on the other end. It’s really absurd.

  5. I agree 110% with you Larry. i just wrote an article about that on the site, because I feel like LeBron can’t win no matter what. Check it out:
