NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks on George Lopez Tonight

NBA Champion Dallas Mavericks on George Lopez Tonight

After dethroning the Heat and debunking the doubters, the Dallas Mavericks have been everywhere — including last night on George Lopez tonight

SCOTT JACOBS

Mark Cuban and the Mavs remained relatively quiet throughout their incredible 2011 NBA playoffs run.  When that run culminated in an unlikely championship, the muzzle came off, and the Mavs mouths came back.  Last night Cuban, Shawn Marion, and super sub J.J. Barea were on George Lopez Tonight to talk about the journey, what it’s like being champions, and Cubes’ interest in the … Dodgers?

Take a look at some excerpts, with video from their sit-down with George after the jump.

Mark Cuban on having Don Carter, the first owner of the Mavericks accept the Larry O’Brien trophy:

Mark Cuban – “Don Carter is 78 years old. He comes to every game…he’s had some heart problems and hasn’t been feeling well. After we won game five against the Heat in Dallas he was like ‘Mark, if we can win this thing my life would be complete.’ I try not to jinx myself and think ahead but the one thing I wanted to do was, if we won, I wanted Mr. Carter to come up there and accept the trophy…”

The Matrix on championship rings or something else:

Shawn Marion – “Do a ring and a watch!”

On the Los Angeles Dodgers and their sticky ownership issues:

George Lopez – “Will you please buy the Los Angeles Dodgers?”

Cuban – “I might have to and sign J.J. He can play baseball.”

  1. Saw George Lopez’ interview with JJ Barea and Shawn Marion and just didn’t appreciate his comment about Puertoricans watching the NBA Finals on ONE television. Drop by our island George and we’ll be more than happy to show you how many TV’s we have…and more.

  2. Thanks for the comment Noris. It’s funny you mention that, because that stereotype is thrown around a lot. We’re actually in the process of trying to get an interview with George — late July would be the earliest — and if we do, I would be more than happy to ask him that on your behalf. Thanks for reading.
