Derek Jeter homers for 3,000th career hit

New York Yankees captain Derek Jeter hit a home run just minutes ago to get hit number 3,000 in his career. The shortstop now becomes the 28th member of the coveted “3,000 club” joining legends including Ty Cobb, Hank Aaron, and Pete Rose. He is also the first player to do it exclusively as a Yankee. This achievement will surely strengthen an already stellar application for the Hall of Fame once Jeter retires.
