The New York Yankees beat the Oakland Athletics in a close 7-5 game earlier today. Ex-Yankee Hideki Matsui tied for a career high 5 hits as he almost led the team to a comeback victory which included a run given up by Yankees’ closer Mariano Rivera. The effort fell short though as the Yankees closed out the game in the ninth after the A’s 5th run with Rivera getting the save and Bartolo Colon taking the win.
