50 Semi-Bold Predictions for the 2011 NFL Season

Are you ready for some football?  Here’s some predictions that may surprise you for 2011

MIKE KAYE

It’s Game Day as the NFL begins another season tonight.  Before New Orleans and Green Bay tussle on the grid-iron, here’s 50 well calculated semi-bold predictions for this year.  In case you forgot, we did this last year too.

01.  Plaxico Burress will have more touchdowns than Braylon Edwards (but far less yards).

02.  Peyton Manning will be on the IR at some point this season.

03.  Lesean McCoy will lead the league in all-purpose yards.

04.  Matt Ryan will have the best TD-to-INT ratio in the league.

05.  Lee Evans will have more receptions than his former teammate Stevie Johnson.

06.  Bob Saunders will play at least ten games this year (knock on wood).

07.  Tony Romo will lead the league in interceptions this year.

08.  Blaine Gabbert will be the Jaguars starting QB by week 8.

09.  No rookie running back will reach 800 yards rushing this season.

10.   The Saints will lose at least three games in a row.

11.   Mark Sanchez will have two game losing interceptions.

12.   Rex Grossman will start as many games as Vince Young this season (I’ve realized it’s inevitable, but hopefully not).

13.   A pass rusher will only need 13 sacks to lead the league this year.

14.   Someone will eclipse 11 interceptions this year.

15.    The Detroit Lions will win at least 8 games.

16.   Andy Dalton will lead rookies in passing yards, touchdowns, and third down conversions.

17.   At least one of the following backup QBs will be traded by midseason: Matt Flynn (GB), Josh Johnson (TB), and Jimmy Clausen (CAR).

18.   Carson Palmer will show up in Cincinnati at some point this season, but won’t play a down for the Bengals.

19.   The team that will feel the lockout the most: the San Francisco 49ers.

20.   Houston will not only make the playoffs, but win a playoff game (Mazel Tov!!!)

21.   Colt McCoy will put up 3,000 yards and 20 touchdowns.

22.   Randy Moss will play this season.

23.   The Packers-Saints opening game will be the highest rated Thursday night game in the history of sports (not just the NFL).

24.   Peyton Hillis will have less than 700 yards this season (sorry kid, teams study season long-tape).

25.   The Lions will lead the league in sacks.

26.   The Eagles will lead to the league in defensive touchdowns.

27.   Kansas City will lead the league in rushing.

28.   The Bills will struggle to win 2 games this season and will win the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

29.   Oakland will start six different receivers this season.

30.   The Chargers will have the best special teams this season.

31.   The Vikings will lead the league in sacks allowed.

32.   Cam Newton will have more rushing touchdowns than passing.

33.   The Titans won’t win a game outside of the AFC.

34.   The Giants will not sniff the playoffs.

35.   The Steelers will lose to the Ravens twice in the regular season, but will beat them in the playoffs.

36.   The Tampa Bay Bucs will be the only road team in the playoffs to lead their division in points.

37.   The Denver Broncos will not win a game on the road.

38.   The Dolphins will have the worst redzone offense, but a top five redzone defense.

39.   Arizona will win 8 games but will not win their division (I have St. Louis at 9-7).

40.   Greg Little, not A.J. Green or Julio Jones, will lead all rookies in catches and receiving yards.

41.   The Jaguars will score less points than the Oakland Raiders, but will have similar records.

42.   Aaron Rodgers will be even better this season (more TDS and yards).

43.   Ndamukong Suh will be fined a record number of times this season.

44.   The Jets won’t touch the AFC title game this year.

45.   Nnamdi Asomaugha will give up touchdowns this season.

46.   The Bears will have the worst record of last year’s playoff teams.

47.   The Bucs will have the best record of last year’s non-playoff teams.

48.   There will be one playoff team with home-field advantage that has a losing home record.

49.   Casey Matthews won’t be robbed of the Defensive Player of the Year award this season.

50.   Matt Stafford will finish top five in passing touchdowns this season.
