Week 5 Picks (Against the Spread)

(Rubera writes for The Spop)
Last Week: 9-7 / Overall: 30-32-2 / Best Bets: 3-5-2 / Monday Night: 2-3 / Against Cincy: 1-3
Kansas City +2.5 @ Indianapolis
Indy will be drained by two straight prime time games giving it all they had and coming away losers both times. The Chiefs have more tools on both sides right now and should edge out a close one.
Arizona @ Minnesota -2.5
Two teams who keep finding new ways to lose every week. Gotta give Adrian Peterson one last shot at carrying the team and Donovan McNabb one last shot at keeping his job. They should beat a 1-3 team at home.
Philadelphia -2.5 @ Buffalo
The Bills got a dose of reality last week and have been brought back down to Earth. They still have a pretty good offense behind the Amish Rifle, but their defense still gives up too many big plays which is just about the only thing the Eagles can do these days. Bad matchup for America’s darlings. Vick will play and should dominate with his arm and his legs.
Oakland +6 @ Houston
Arian Foster made a big return last week, but missing Andre Johnson is a big deal and will seriously change what Houston can do offensively. Oakland is tough and McFadden should keep the clock moving and put enough points on the board to keep it close.
New Orleans @ Carolina +6.5
The Saints defense hasn’t leveled off just yet and Cam Newton is exploiting every secondary he sees. Should be high scoring affair with the home underdogs making a game out of it.
Cincinnati @ Jacksonville -2.5
I promised I wouldn’t pick Cincy. Can’t start now.
Tennessee +3 @ Pittsburgh
Roethlisberger will either be out or hobbled. The Titans are the real surprise team of the year so far and I say they go into Pitt and win straight up. Chris Johnson finally cracked 100 yards. This week he does it plus a touchdown or two to complement what Hasselbeck’s doing.
Seattle @ NY Giants -10
‘Cross the country comes Tavaris Jackson and his merry band of incompetents. The Seahawks can barely take advantage of the best home field in the league. They will be toast in New Jersey against what looks to be the best team in the NFC East.
Tampa Bay @ San Francisco -3
The Bucs just had their first three game winning streak of the Freeman era. Four might be a bit to much to ask for after flying out to the Bay to play a smoking hot 49ers team filled with confidence after upsetting Philly last week. San Francisco is doing just about everything right lately and Tampa will be a little tired from their trip and the short week after a surprising struggle Monday night.
NY Jets @ New England -9
Can’t wait.
San Diego -4 @ Denver
Not sure why this line is so low. San Diego took care of another crappy team last week without Gates. This should be no different. This is usually the time of year when Rivers and the offense starts embarrassing people. Watch out.
Green Bay -6 @ Atlanta
The Packers are unstoppable right now. They just played this same game 9 months ago when Atlanta was really good and they went into the Georgia Dome and won by 27. This time Atlanta is not good.
Chicago @ Detroit -5.5
The line is moving toward the Bears, but the city of Detroit will be going crazy on Monday night. Hank Williams may not be there but the Motor City has plenty of rowdy friends, specifically on the defensive line. We just may witness the murder of Jay Cutler on national television.
Best Bets: San Diego, Philadelphia, Green Bay

Looking forward to the Eagles and the Bills game. It should be interesting to see if the which of these teams can actually play.
