Week 9 Picks (Against the Spread)

Last Week: 7-4-1  /  Overall: 58-51-6  /  Best Bets: 9-10-3  /  Monday Night: 5-4  /  Against Cincy: 1-6

Atlanta -7.5 @ Indianapolis

The Falcons found their A game and the Colts are looking to flunk and take summer school.

NY Jets +1.5 @ Buffalo

The Bills are the better team right now, but the Jets have more willpower and know how to turn it up when their backs are against the wall.  They can’t lose many more division games if they want a crack at the playoffs.  This is a big game and that’s usually when they step up with their best.

Cleveland @ Houston -11

The Texans have been on a roll and may even get Andre Johnson back this week.  Cleveland has only beaten the worst of the league and is averaging ten points per game in their last three.  This should be an easy cover for the home team.

Miami @ Kansas City -4.5

When one team takes pride in winning and the other takes pride in losing…take the first one.

San Francisco -4 @ Washington

The Skins proved that their backups can’t compete when they got shut out by Buffalo last week.  San Fran is a top five team with a nasty defense.  This could be back to back goose-eggs for Washington.

Tampa Bay +8.5 @ New Orleans

The Bucs have already beaten the Saints this year.  The can probably still hang on by a touchdown, especially after a bye week to rest and prepare for the team that gave St. Louis their first win last week.

Seattle @ Dallas -12

After watching the Cowboys get croaked on Sunday night it’s hard to argue that they will not only win a game but win it handily.  However, the Seahawks are just that bad.  Dallas had a comparable spread against the Rams recently and blew them out.  Look for the same.

Denver +9 @ Oakland

People have been hammering Tebow on his most recent play.  Did they see what Carson Palmer and Kyle Boller did for theirs?

Cincinnati @ Tennessee -2

No Bengals picks this year.  They once again made me regret it last week.

NY Giants +9 @ New England

Eli is chucking the ball all over the place lately and has two legit deep threats in Cruz and Nicks.  The Patriots can’t stop anybody and haven’t had success in blocking the Giants’ defensive attacks on Brady lately.

Green Bay @ San Diego +5.5

The Chargers are due to not shoot themselves in the foot and the Packers simply can’t go undefeated.  These are my only arguments.  I’m taking the points officially, but I don’t feel good about it.

Baltimore @ Pittsburgh -3

The Steelers have moved to the head of the class in the AFC and they won’t be forgetting what the Ravens did to them opening weekend.  Baltimore’s offense has been sputtering, if not embarrassing, lately and will be hard pressed to get in a rhythm against a Steeler defense that stifled Tom Brady last week.

St. Louis +2 @ Arizona

In a battle of backup quarterbacks, I’ll take the one that just beat the Saints.  Of course, if Bradford plays that’s even better.

Chicago +8.5 @ Philadelphia

I’m all about backing the hot team, but this is just too many points to ignore.  Matt Forte has Chicago in the playoff hunt and the Bears have only lost to the best teams in the NFC, which the Eagles still haven’t quite proven they are yet.

Best Bets: San Francisco, Atlanta, Houston
