5087! Drew Brees breaks Dan Marino’s record as the Saints throttle Atlanta on MNF

1984. It was a different time, and a different game, but that doesn’t change the fact that history is history. Drew Brees and the Saints had one heckuva Monday night in a festive and rocking Mercedes Benz Superdome (I think that’s what they’re calling it nowadays), as Brees and New Orleans pounded NFC South nemesis Atlanta 45-16 to lock up another NFC South title, and a record many once thought was unreachable — Dan Marino’s 1984 single season passing yards record of 5,084 yards. But with 307 yards through the air, including an epic, touchdown throw to set a new mark — Brees rewrote the record books on Monday night and he still has a meaningful game to play. How should the record be viewed in lieu of today’s offensively charged NFL, how cool was it that Brees broke the record on a TD, and how far can the Saints go with or without a bye in the playoffs? Juiced Sports Radio is locked in and ready to roll on Drew Brees’ unforgettable night.
