Jermaine Dye and Ozzie Guillen were ejected in the White Sox 4-0 loss to the Indians yesterday, and I had front row seats to watch the whole thing go down.

Dye was ejected for arguing after being called out with the bases loaded and two outs, and I don’t know why Guillen was ejected, because he didn’t start arguing on the field until after he was ejected.

Here are some photos:

Here’s where Ozzie gets ejected after leading Dye off the field:

Now Ozzie argues his ejection:

I have written a profile on watching Indians games at Progressive Field and on that game specifically in more detail for EventChaser, which can be read here.

It may have more to do with his hate of the Red Sox…

MITCHELL BLATT

Manny Ramirez has expressed publicly what JSB was reporting last summer–that Ramirez wants to return to the Cleveland Indians.

Ramirez told the USA Today:

“I would like to play for Cleveland one more time, to go back where I started. … I think to go back where you started is everyone’s dream.”

I reported last summer that Ramirez wanted to go back to Cleveland, but the Indians didn’t end up wanting to spend money on him.

However, his desire to return to Cleveland may not be rooted so much in wanting to return to where he started his career as it is in making sure he doesn’t get inducted into the Hall of Fame as a Red Sock, says one of my sources.

The MLB HOF people decide which team a player represents when they are inducted, and Ramirez played 8 years with both the Indians and Red Sox (getting traded during his eighth season in Boston).

He put up similar stats on both teams, though for his first two years with Cleveland, he hadn’t risen to stardom.

If he were to be inducted today, my source thinks he would be a Red Sock, but if he plays just a few more years in Cleveland, he’ll be an Indian. Because he hates the Red Sox so much, he doesn’t want to be a Red Sock.

Just some speculation…

Manny Ramirez has been asking for trades on and off every year since coming to the Red Sox, but now it’s for real. The Red Sox really want to trade him, but they probably won’t find a buyer, according to my sources and other sources.

The Sox couldn’t trade him in his prime, so they won’t be able to trade him now. He has been on the decline the past few years, failing to hit 40 home runs since 2005 or 100 RBIs since 2006. This season, he has 19 home runs and 63 RBIs.

The few teams that could trade for him are the Diamondbacks, Mets, and Phillies, but even if he doesn’t get dealt, he will be a free agent at the end of the year because the Red Sox have no plans to extend his option.

This would present an interesting option for Manny’s original team, the Cleveland Indians. My inside sources tell me the Indians might be interested in signing him.

Indians owner Larry Dolan has taken heat from Indians fans for not spending enough, but my source noted that Dolan has had a track record of spending big money on good young players. Dolan did spend $57 million over four years on Travis Hafner in his 2007 renegotiation.

At the end of this season, with the contracts of C.C. Sabathia, Casey Blake, Paul Byrd, and Jason Michaels off the books, the Indians will have about $20 million available to spend. With the Indian’s disappointment this year and their lack of offensive production, the front office is feeling pressure to do something.

If they can sign Ramirez for two years for $15-16 million a year, they might go for it.

While Ramirez is a big name, don’t expect too much fanfare to be made about him in free agency. There’s a lot of teams that wouldn’t want him, my source said, and he’s not as good as was a few years ago, anyway.

That said, the Yankees seem to be interested in everybody, and wouldn’t that be a good place for Manny to go to stick it to the Red Sox?

Stay tuned.

JSB has learned that third basemen Taylor Green, the Brewer's 2007 Minor League Player of the Year is part of the trade C.C. Sabathia trade.

ESPN has reported Matt LaPorta and Rob Bryson are two other players the Brewers had to trade to get Sabathia.

Indians, Brewers Agree on Trade: LaPorta, Bryson, Johnson to Indians, Green to be Named

The C.C. Sabathia trade that has been announced includes Matt LaPorta, Rob Bryson, Zach Johnson, and one player to be named, going to the Indians in exchange for Sabathia.

JSB has learned who the player to be named is. Brewers’ 2007 Minor Leauge Player of the Year, Thirdbasemen Taylor Green, will be sent to the Indians on August 16. This news came after speaking with an agency insider.

Green, 21, was selected in the 25th round of the 2005 draft, out of Cypress College (Ca.), and named to the South Atlantic League All-Star team last season. He batted .327 and hit 14 home runs and 86 RBI in 111 games for Single-A West Virginia.

Sabathia is expected to start for the Brewers against the Rockies Tuesday. Green is expected to make the majors in 2010 or 2011.

Green’s agent, Joshua Kusnick, said last night on his blog that Green had not yet been informed about his future.

Taylor has not been informed he has been traded nor has he been informed that he is any part of a pending transaction. What does all that mean? Nothing, because if the Brewers drop the PTBNL bomb anyone can go including Taylor. I know everyone in the game is an adult and I know it’s a business but you would think maybe someone in the entire organization could let Taylor know what his status is instead of letting him just float in the wind.

This could be because, as one Brewer’s blogger who speaks closely with insiders said, “The farm director, Reid Nichols, hasn’t always been as forthright with info as players/agents would like,” or simply because the Indians have no officially decided on Green as the player to be named.

Another possibility includes Michael Brantley, but my agency source says the Indians want Green.

<no frames>
Manny Regained Motivation After Reading Garko’s Editted Game 5 Quote

After the Indians lost Game Five and had to go back to Boston, Indians first basemen Ryan Garko made a startling revalation, “The champagne tastes just as good on the road as it does at home.” That alone doesn’t suffice for bulletin board material, so the Red Sox editted it to have him say, “I can’t wait to take them down on their home field,” and posted it on their bulletin board for Game Six. Manny Ramirez who, “didn’t care,” whether the Sox won or lost the series apparently read the quote (or had someone read it to him), because he was motivated to win games Six and Seven.

While that was all happening in the Red Sox locker room, the Indians were still suffering from the effects of Manny’s non-bulletin-board quote. After Game Four, Manny said, “Who cares? There’s always next year.”

The Indians staff must have not done a very good job editting it before posting it.

So, now the Red Sox are reading this quote by someone who “can’t wait to take them down at home,” and the Indians are reading about how Manny “doesn’t care.” Who do you expect to win? The Red Sox came out the final two games thinking, “He wants to beat us at home? No way!” The Indians were thinking, “Hey doesn’t care? Oh yeah? Well, I don’t care even more!”

Just think if Garko had kept his mouth shut. The Red Sox would have no motivation to win, and the Indians would be losing to the (Red Hot) Rockies next week. Or even better, Garko could have said, “We suck. I think it was evident based on how we lost tonight. The Sox are definitely going to beat us. I can’t wait to play golf this offseason, but I suck at that, too.”

<no frames>
Sox Down 3-1, but “Who Cares?”

Everyone knows Manny Ramirez is a classless showboater, but did he really need to celebrate his homerun that put the Red Sox within 4 like this? (Why yes, he did, or else what would I have to write about?) It was in the sixth inning of the Indians Game 4 ALCS win, and it was the Red Sox third straight home run. That was the first time a team had hit three straight homeruns in ALCS history, so it was big, but not nearly as big as the Indians 7-run inning in the fifth. Not nearly as big as the Indians 3-1 series lead. Then again, “Who Cares?” According to Manny Ramirez: “There’s always next year.”

Well, he did seem to care about the home run. Maybe because it was his home run and not the team’s.

Indians catcher Kelly Shoppach had a few words for Manny as he was celebrating: “I told him to get going, like I would anyone. I love Manny. He’s a great guy. But don’t do that to us. Everyone knows he’s a great player, but you don’t have to show it. We don’t have guys who do that.”

Indians pitcher Jensen Lewis who allowed the home run: “If he’s going to celebrate one run like that, that’s up to him.”

Right, so we have the Indians scoring seven runs and not doing a whole lot of showboating and the Red Sox scoring three runs and acting like they just won the series. This is why everyone hates the Red Sox.

Because the Indians have such good fans, they filled up the stadium last night with a majority of Indians fans for the first time against the Yankees since the last time the Indians faced the Yankees in the playoffs. While Indians fans might not be loyal enough to come to the park against the Yankees in the regular season, they still had enough loyalty to bash LeBron James extensively. Nothing better than this one comparing LeBron to a Nazi.

“What if a Nazi went into a Jewish temple wearing a swastika? That’s what LeBron is doing by coming to Jacobs Field with a Yankees hat. Jacobs Field is like our temple.”-David, a friend of Juiced Sports Blog

“I’m going to go to a Cavs game and sit right behind the bench wearing a Pistons hat. Let’s see how much LeBron likes that.”-Bob Feller

Cleveland Talk Show Host, Mike Trivisonno

“LeBron James doesn’t matter to me any more. I won’t give that guy a cent. LeBron, listen, the world doesn’t revolve around you. You are not the ‘Chosen One.’ That’s a nickname.”

“I have a lot of LeBron memorabilla. I don’t want it anymore. I’m auctioning it off at my Coats for Kids fundraiser. I was thinking of burning it or throwing it out, but I figure it would be better to give some kids coats with it. I may only get $8 each for it, but that will buy some coats.”

The world may not revolve around LeBron James, but Mike Trivisonno’s show sure does. For someone who doesn’t care about LeBron, he’s been talking about him an awful lot lately–all week, with saturated coverage today.

Another thing, LeBron James never called himself “The Chosen One.” The media did.

Hey Hoynsie: Can you honestly say that you’ll feel good about closer Joe Borowski (40 saves) trotting out to protect a one run lead in the deciding game of a playoff series with the Yankees or Red Sox? Mark my words, this guy is going to crush the Indians’ dreams.-Scott, Boise, Idaho

Uh, Scott? Do you watch baseball? Did you know that Joe Borowski has 40 saves? Did you know that he is 12-for-17 in one-run games? That’s enough to make me confident. He allows runs, sure, but he’s a freakin closer. As long as he allows less runs than the other team needs to win, it’s a good performance. He usually has a good performance. By the way, I’m pretty happy about Boise State losing their winning streak.

Hey Grossi: Maybe I’m too simple (Yes, you are.). But, in my opinion, the QB situation is simple. Keep Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson. Make Ken Dorsey a coach. … -Scott, North Carolina

Not to take a shot at my cowriter, but Scotts seem pretty stoopid today. Dorsey has played three seasons! And played terrible at that! Why is he suddenly a veteran leader? And why would he want to be a coach when he still has a long career as a backup ahead of him?
