Pacman “Adam” Jones was arrested July 11 in Cincinnati for allegedly creating disorderly conduct, swearing at police and resisting arrest, a tame night by his standards. Pacman responded to allegations by saying, “I keep on going through the same thing, and it don’t make no sense.”

Indeed, Pacman Jones getting arrested is something I would never have imagined. (With his use of the double negative, he is technically correct that “it don’t make no sense.”) In order to put some sense to the issue, JSB has compiled some of our top Pacman Jones stories of the past five years:

Juiced Sports Blog over the past few years has owed a debt of gratitude to Adam “Pacman” Jones.

The kid has never ceased giving me something to post about. From his gang fight at the Vegas NBA All-Star Game, to his wrestling career, to his ongoing arguments with media organizations over how many times he’s been arrested (“I’ve only been arrested twice.”).

When he was suspended for the entire season and subsequently released by the Dallas Cowboys last January, I thought he was done for good, but now the Bengals have signed him.

He joins a franchise with a storied history–recent history–of stars like Chris Henry, Tank Johnson, AJ Nicholson, and some other famous criminals. (Good news: Tank Johnson says Pacman is ecstatic to join the crew.)

He was supposed to play in the CFL last year, but the Blue Bombers pulled out of the deal without much media coverage. “It is unfortunate that this situation became public,” the coach said in a short USA Today article. According to Wikipedia, Jones made some comments in a video, including “calling the league the United Football League when it is in fact the Canadian Football League.” (That’s grounds for not playing?)

So when are the Bengals going to trade for Ben Roethlisberger?

Speaking of him, I found this article from last October in which an employee of a nightclub claims that she was fired for demanding to see ID for one of Roethlisberger’s underage gal pals.

“Goodell said his decision on whether Jones can return will be based on Jones’ strict compliance with the NFL and the Cowboys in relation to treatment plans and evaluations by clinical experts.”

It doesn’t take an expert to know that after another fight, Pacman “Not Adam” Jones will probably never be a functioning member of a civilized society.

Hell, he can’t even be functioning enough to be a member of an uncivilized National Football League.

His latest fight has caused him to be suspended for an undisclosed period.

Aside from getting into a fight, he also violated probation by becoming intoxicated.

Jones appeared to be talking in the third person, but it turns out this is what Jerry Jones had to say:

“I am disappointed for him and his opportunity and for the Cowboys and our opportunity and, frankly, for the NFL,” Jones said. “I would like to have been standing here talking about his success and the curtain coming up for him and addressing his issues. That certainly would have been more positive.”

There was no comment as to how long he is expected to be suspended or what his chances are of returning to the NFL, but after six prior arrests, Roger Goodell was pretty fed up with him to suspend him for an entire season.

Goodell did say that a possible return would be predicated on Jones’s compliance with a set of standards and “evaluations by clinical experts.”

You don’t have to be an expert to guess what an expert might conclude.

Because of the suspension, the Cowboys will end up receiving a fifth round pick from the Titans and not have to give up their sixth round pick next year.

The final trade pans out like this:

Cowboys Get:
Pacman Jones for six games (good for 0 INTs and 25 tackles)
a 2009 fifth round pick

Titans Get:
a 2008 fourth round pick

It’s pretty much a wash, but, especially after figuring in the bad publicity, the Titans have a slight advantage.

This time, he actually got into a fight with one of the bodyguards the Cowboys assigned to keep him out of trouble.

(How often is it that someone actually gets bodyguards to keep themselves out of trouble? Shouldn’t everyone around Pacman be the ones with bodyguards?)

The confrontation occurred at the Joule Hotel in Dallas.

Apparently, Pacman got drunk then got mad at his bodyguard for no reason and started throwing punches at him in a bathroom. (And what were they doing together in a bathroom? I’m not going to say he’s a rat, but…)

After police broke up the fight, Pacman left without paying his tab then was driven away by a women.

Pacman should know by now that drinking and women don’t go well with him.

His bodyguard confirmed what we all know: Pacman has a drinking problem. He said Pacman is prone to mood swings when he drinks.

Of course, Pacman wants me to refer to him as Adam. I’d sooner refer to Chad Johnson as Ocho Cinco. Even after changing his name back to Adam, he still gets in fights.

Remember what Pacman said when he was reinstated?

“I know my responsibilities to the NFL and I’m going to hold my own and do what I need to do to make sure I stay where I am right now, which is reinstated. I work hard every day to make sure I don’t make the same mistakes. Can I say I would never ever make the same mistakes? No, I can’t say that. I’ll make sure I put myself in way better situations than I have put myself in the past.”

Well, he wasn’t arrested, so I guess he is putting himself in better situations…

Why don’t I care about sports? Because it’s not fun. You can’t rap to Kobe about how your ass tastes without getting your ceremonial sherif’s badge taken away. That’s right, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio revoked Shaq’s badge for the rap.

He said, “Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they’re fired. I don’t condone this type of racial conduct.”

Right, but Shaq is a basketball player, and he’s not even a real member of the force. Let’s keep this controversy about the n word, used by Shaq in the following phrase, “That’s like a white boy being more n*gger than me,” out of sports. He was just having fun as he has done in the past on multiple occasions.

Next, Don Imus. Luckily, Media Matters kept their mouths shut about this one. In one of his classic racist comments that most people didn’t care about until the Rutgers comments, Imus responded “Well there you go,” after being told that Pacman Jones was black. This was certainly not as bad as what he said about Rutgers.

Now that’s debatable, I guess. When he attacked Rutgers, he made comments about specific people and didn’t invoke race. Here, he makes a racist comment about an entire race.

On the other hand, Pacman Jones himself is actually a bad person, compared to the Rutgers players who did nothing wrong. Also, this comment was more innocent in that it can be construed as more of a wry joke.

Either way, Imus has made a career out of offended people of all races with his “jokes,” so it’s kind of stupid to attack him for everything he says now, when no one cared at all what he said before Rutgers. There were comments about his Jewish management who were “beanie wearing, money grubbing bastards,” a black secretary he liked to call “N*gger, N*gger,” Bill Rhoden, a “quota hire,” and tennis player Amelie Mauresmo, a “big old lesbo.”

Now I’m supposed to be outraged when he attack Pacman Jones?

His apology, however, was classic:

“What people should be outraged about is that they arrest blacks for no reason. I mean, there’s no reason to arrest this kid six times. Maybe he did something once, but everyone does something once.”

Dude, I’m not even going to respond to that one.

Don Imus says he was being his good ol’ sarcastic self. Pacman (whoops, I mean Adam “Don’t call me Pacman no more” Jones) doesn’t like his racist remark.

Me? Well, this is a match made in blog lover heaven.

Jones vs. Imus in who’s the smaller piece of crap. Drew Carey hosts. Episode 1 airs on the Fox Network August 2008…

Okay, in all seriousness, this has to go down as one of the most ridiculous “hey,I’m not the bad guy here,” stories of 2008.

Jones, the former Titan Corner who was arrested so many times, they needed a new team to pick up the tab versus Imus and his band of nappy headed… you know the drill.

This whole feud started when Imus talked about the arrests of the troubled corner, saying “What color is he?” only to have his announcer proclaim, “African American,” leading Imus to state, “well there you go.”

People were outraged. I guess the whole Rutgers thing didn’t really help Imus’ case.

Well, today Jones shot back, giving us the quote of 2008 so far if you ask me:

“I’m truly upset about the comments,” Jones said. “Obviously Mr. Imus has problems with African-Americans. I’m upset, and I hope the station he works for handles it accordingly. I will pray for him.”

Jones will pray for Imus? That quote is so good it just isn’t even fair.

I’m not even taking a stance on this whole debacle. And I’m not downplaying Jones’ quote about how Imus has problems with black people. He seems to have problems with a lot of people. Just the fact, that Jones, who has had so many problems he practically has a page on this site dedicated to the tens of stories we’ve had about him, would say that he’ll pray for Imus is fodder you just can’t make up.

Jones, don’t waste your time. Imus ain’t worth it. And you need to save every last one of those prayers that Roger Goodell re-instates you.

Now it should be noted Imus was taken out of context. Of course he was. O wait, those were his words not mine. Imus’ apology today:

Imus also added he was trying to “make a sarcastic point.”

I didn’t listen to his radio show, never have in my life, so maybe he really does want to go on a crusade to help the embattled black athlete. Or maybe he’s full of crap. Who knows.

But the nut-job of 2007 (Imus) feuding with the oft-arrested ‘doesn’t seem to get it’ person of 2008 (Jones) is a classic tangle of almost too much to handle.

It’s just ridiculous.

Watching these two go at it is about as hard to take seriously as anything from Semi Pro. You want to get involved, you want to take a side, but the story is so ridiculous, you’re sort of left speechless.

If I had to give my initial reaction it would be that Imus is a moron who doesn’t get it.

After hearing his apology today I can actually see where he might be coming from.

But watching these two slug it out in the public eye to get us to take a side, well, that’s just not going to happen.

Both guys have issues. Imus says whatever comes to his head, and doesn’t get the concept that one simple quote can royally screw you over. Jones is trying to revamp his image, starting with the animated video game character

Whichever side you take, its hard to say that anything, not even the on it’s death bed revitalization of the Shaq-Kobe feud can top this gem.

And that’s pretty much the only opinion that really needs to be said.

Pacman Jones still hasn’t been reinstated–shortly after asking to be reinstated, he was involved in another strip club fight. Whether or not he does get reinstated, he will still have a lot of time to frequent the many strip clubs around Dallas. (Thanks to The Big Lead for finding the map.)

Now that he’s playing with Terrell Owens, well, I’m not saying he’s a rat, but if it looks like a rat and talks like a rat, then by golly, it’s a rat. Here’s an address for you to party at, Pacman: 3102 Oak Lawn Ave.

Not that talking like a rat has ever meant anyone is gay. But the QB who might not be throwing T.O. enough passes has had his share of girls, so it would be pretty hard for T.O. to make that point. “Yeah, well, if he looks like he ain’t throwing me the ball, and the stats show he ain’t throwing me the ball, then he probably isn’t throwing me the ball.”

Pacman, on the other hand, competed in Total Nonstop Action wrestling with people who look like this:

There have been plenty of reports of him hitting women, but none of him doing anything else to women.

Also, one person on another blog said he was gay, and that’s the clincher.

BodogLife.com has some gambling lines up on things like, “During which month will the first publicized report of Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones visiting Dallas area Strip Clubs be released?” (Yahoo!-MJD)

I think they ought to have a line on what strip club he will be arrested at. I’m just saying…

Pacman Jones brings his record of 6 arrests and 12 fights requiring police attention to the city of Dallas, where violent crime is already 2.29 times the national average, and assault is 1.81 times that. Despite his 4-6 interception-to-arrest ratio, the Titans could only get a fourth rounder out of him. If he plays a significant amount of time next season, the Titans will get another pick. Imagine putting that kind of incentive into a trade for Pacman Jones. Why would anyone even doubt that he would play an entire season?

This trade is projected to lower Nashville’s crime rate. Already, it was down 2% in February with trade talks in the air. However, there is some debate as to how much his departure will actually affect Nashville. Pacman himself has claimed to have only been arrested twice, and it is worth noting that some of his arrests came in Vegas.

Well, Pacman, meet your new teammate. I think you guys are going to fit in real well together:

Well, I must appologize to Pacman Jones. He was alleged to be involved in a strip club fight, and, just because he already had six prior arrests, I jumped to the conclusion that he was guilty.

First, I would like to appologize for saying Pacman has been arrested six times. While credible sources like ESPN have credited him with six arrests, he himself says he was only arrested twice.

Either way, his arrests are still in the single digits, and he’s been in the NFL three whole years. He was up for arrest number seven after a women decided to ask for a warrant against him.

That warrant has since been withdrawn.

Now, this does not necessarily mean that the assault never happened, but, as hard as it is to say, I’m actually taking Pacman’s side on this.

The whole story seemed pretty phony (except for the part about Pacman fighting). Why would a divorce lawyer involved in Pacman’s case be at a strip club to work on the divorce case?

She was allegedly assaulted on January 3 then filed a police complaint yesterday then withdrew it today. If you have an entire two weeks to think about whether you want to file, why would you pull it one day after filing?

Maybe she just had something against Pacman as a divorce lawyer going against him.

Then again, all of this is just my opinion, and I might be wrong just like I was yesterday about Pacman.

When I added the final line to yesterday’s article–”With all “alleged” charges, you can’t say anything for certain, but I am pretty certain…”–I was more or less joking. I thought the Pac did it.

I thought at the time that the story was a little fishy, but hey, it’s Pacman Jones, crazy stuff always happens to him.

Well, he might have not gotten involved in a fight there, but the fact that it’s so believable that he did illustrates his problems…



Randy Moss Also Accused of Assault

An angel by comparison, Randy Moss has been accused of assaulting a women, too. I also don’t think he did it.

He allegedly assaulted this women on January 6, but he says the women is commiting extortion and asked for “six figures” before she came forward.

In a vehament defense, Moss said:

“Last Friday, this man wanted to come out with it,” Moss said, apparently referring to someone siding with Washington, “just to try to distract the team and distract me.

“There was much more said, a lot of verbal, a lot of cuss words, a lot of things that I should be doing. You better do this or else. … Well, I thought it was bad because now you’re threatening me, so I brought it to coach.”

He said Patriots coach Bill Belichick told him to focus on football.

“They’re false allegations, something I’ve been battling for like the last couple of days of threats going public if I didn’t pay X amount of dollars,” Moss said. “So before people rush quick to judgment, I think you need to find out the facts about, really, what’s going on.

“This young lady by no means is hurt. I didn’t hurt her.”

Certainly not the kind of “Never happened” defense that Roger Clemens offered us on 60 minutes: Clemens Defense

I just don’t think you can come up with that elaborate of a story on a week’s notice and express it as authoritatively as Moss did. Especially considering how poorly he defended himself against past allegations.

So, those are just my thoughts. I could be wrong.

Please, Pacman, I’m sick of writing about you. Sick of hearing about you. Why don’t you just go back to your fun innocent video game where the worst you ever did was kill ghosts? You said you had changed, but as your attorney astutely pointed out, you sounded like a piece of shit. Well, he was right.

When I saw ESPN’s headline “Woman accuses Pacman of punching woman in club,” I thought, This is just another lawsuit stemming from his Las Vegas brawl. I was wrong. This is actually a completely different altercation.

This guy spends more time in strip clubs than on the football field. You’d think after getting arrested 5, 6, 7 times, he’d learn.

This latest altercation occurred in Atlanta at the Body Tap Strip Club on January 3.

The article [here] doesn’t detail how the fight started, but apparently Pacman Jones had some money stolen from him (Doesn’t he always?) when he decided to confront the club’s management, and he punched Wanda Jackson in the face.

Jackson isn’t a part of the management, but she was in the management offices, according to ESPN “because she was [an attorney] handling a divorce case that involved Adam Jones.”

Wonderful, Jones is also getting divorced. Wonder why?

Jones takes down more women than offensive football players.

He’s a classic example of the ill’s of hip-hop culture. That culture is all about getting rich, showing off you’re rich by making it rain dolla bills on strippers in Las Vegas, having to defend your honor by starting a gun fight after one of the strippers picked up some of your money, then doing it all over again next week if you’re rich enough to avoid jail.

It has cost Jones a season, and it will probably cost him his career. He obviously isn’t changing, so he’s not going to be allowed to play again.

It will probably also cost him his freedom. He got lucky, getting a plea deal for his Las Vegas offenses, but he certainly won’t get any leniency next time.

Heck, it might even cost him his life. We saw what happened to Sean Taylor. He pulled a gun on some people whom he thought stole his ATVs. His associations caused him to live in fear, according to cousin Antrel Rolle. One of the suspects in his case Jason Mitchell had previously attended a party at the house.

He might have been changing, as the media reported, but unfortunately, his past caught up with him.

I can’t say that same for Pacman.

With all “alleged” charges, you can’t say anything for certain, but I am pretty certain in this: Commissioner Goodell might not be very receptive to Pacman’s next reinstate me plea.
